Davida Bailey asks our expert I’m thinking of painting an old piece of pine furniture that’s become yellow with age what is the best paint to use? When done what should I use to protect the furniture.”

Our workshop lead Nick repliesWe would use a stain killer undercoat such as B-I-N Primer sealer white pigmented shellac. Then use a water based top coat such as chalk paint which could then be sealed with clear wax.
Alternatively the top coat could be Dulux Diamond eggshell which is tough and washable. ( which is what we use )
